Partially bury rocks (flat ones in particular) in noted digging spots.
Bury plastic chicken wire or netting just under the surface. ...
Citrus peels, cayenne, or vinegar may wrinkle that nose.

Chili powder Chili pepper is a very effective dog repellent. The capsicum in the pepper is very irritating to the area around the dogs nose. Sprinkle some chili powder around your plants or problem areas of the lawn. This will deter your dog from digging in that area.

Dogs can safely eat bread in much the same way as humansin moderation. Plain white and wheat bread is generally safe for dogs to eat, provided they don't have any allergies, and it usually does not cause any stomach upset.

The most effective digging deterrent smell we tested was red cayenne pepper. Sprinkle a small amount of this powder wherever your dog is digging. Once your dog takes a sniff, he will avoid the area completely. When inhaled, this red pepper will irritate your dogs nostrils.
