If your dog is dealing with hot, itchy patches of skin, try giving it a soothing soak in a chamomile or green tea bath. Here's how to do it: Fill your bathtub or sink with lukewarm water and let several tea bags steep for three to five minutes.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a natural, safe relief for especially dry, itchy skin. The antiseptic and antifungal nature of apple cider vinegar makes it a great form of relief from poison ivy but NOT on raw or opened skin. (If your dog has itched himself or herself raw, this solution will sting the exposed wound.)

You can apply primrose oil directly to your dogs skin to treat dry or itchy skin issues. Likewise, giving your dog evening primrose oil by mouth helps calm allergies and boosts the immune system and it only takes a few drops on her food or in her water to do the trick.

Bathing is good for itchy skin, but don't use human shampoo. A mild oatmeal-based shampoo specially formulated for dogs may temporarily decrease itching. If your dogs skin is abraded or infected, do not use any shampoo or topical treatment without talking to your veterinarian. You may make the problem worse by using an inappropriate product.
