While oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruits are certainly not toxic to dogs, they are very acidic and can cause digestive upset if fed in large quantities. Oranges are also high in sugar while lemons and limes are so sour most dogs wouldnt eat them anyway. 12.

Root vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes should be blanched or steamed to make blending possible. Pureeing the vegetables breaks down the cell walls of the plant material, making them easier for dogs to digest.

Another safe vegetable for dogs is brussel sprouts. They contain vitamin C and A, manganese, and fiber. Take care not to feed your dog too many brussel sprouts, because it can lead to flatulence. In other words, stinky farts and sad tummies.

Any veg you give to your dog should be raw or boiled/steamed with no extra oils, butter or flavourings. Always cut it into bite-sized pieces to avoid choking and feed in moderation, especially if your dog isn't used to eating fresh veg.

Good vegetables for dogs: CUCUMBER Dogs can eat cucumber, and many love it cut into thin slices or small cubes. Cucumber is really beneficial for dogs, for example, being a good source of fiber and water (if we give it with washed skin intact), which aids good intestinal health.

To start, dogs dont actually require any fruit or veggies as a part of their diet. If given the right kind of vegetables and fruit, it wont hurt them as a snack, but it shouldnt be more than 10% of the daily calories for your dog.
