How long should I Walk my 4 month old Labrador puppy?
This means that
you can
actually
walk
your four-month old Lab
puppy
for 10 minutes
a
day, twice
a
day, then play with them for 20 minutes. Some puppies are still learning how to properly go on walks.

These include its proper nutrition and exercise. Dogs need to go for a walk to burn calories and relieve tension, especially puppies and young dogs, as they accumulate a larger amount of energy than adults. If not, our dog may start behaving in an inappropriate manner and develop anxiety disorders and stress.

Thinkstock/Comstock/Getty Images Before you start walking your puppy around the block or taking him to the dog park, make sure he has had 3 to 4 full sets of puppy vaccines, including for rabies. On average, this will be completed between 12 and 16 weeks of age.

A good rule of thumb is a ratio of five minutes exercise per month of age (up to twice a day) until the
puppy
is fully grown, i.e. 15 minutes when three months old, 20 minutes when four months old etc. Once they are fully grown, they
can
go out for much longer.

When using the new access rights over open country and common land, you must keep your dog on a short lead between 1 March and 31 July - and all year round near farm animals. You may not be able to take your dog at all on some areas or at some times. Please follow any official signs

The latter's eagerness to please and love of food means that when you get the motivation right you are both going to have fun during training. A well-trained Labrador should walk by your side on a loose leash, without pulling or tugging.

This is based on an average of two walks per day. For example, a four-month-old puppy can be walked for 20 minutes, twice a day, while a seven-month-old puppy can be walked for 35 minutes, twice a day.

A Labrador puppy doesnt need any form of structured exercise during its first 3 months as theyre only small, tire quickly and are sufficiently exercised with just their normal play. During the first 3 months, its more important not to over-exercise your pup.

Puppies need socializing. But they also need to stay home and safe from disease. So what can you do? When can I take my puppy for a walk? The answer is usually a compromise. Veterinarians focus on your dogs health, and some still recommend keeping your puppy home until she is fourteen weeks old or so.

How long do I wait before taking my puppy outside? Vets recommend waiting until 10-14 days after your puppys last vaccination booster usually at around 1416 weeks of age before introducing them to the wonders of local parks, beaches and walking trails. Dont resist this time in your puppys life embrace it!

If your puppy has completed his vaccines, you can start to walk or exercise him outside. Puppies need less exercise than you might think, even though they can seem full of energy! Some breeders suggest 5 minutes of exercise per month of age so a maximum 15 minute walk outside for a 12 week old puppy.

It is important to be patient when going on your first few walks. You may need to stop in order to remind your pup not to pull on the leash, but he will learn through repetition that he shouldnt go too far. Practice walking your puppy regularly and consistently and youll have a wonderful walking partner in no time.
