the
American Kennel Club first recognized
the Cane Corso in
2010.
The
popularity of
the
breed continues to grow, ranking
in
40th place
in the
United States
in
2016, a jump from 50th place
in
2013 and 60th
in
2012 Today
the
breed
is
used as a guardian, protection, tracking and police dog.

In 1988 a man imported the first litter of Corso to the United States. In addition to this, the Cane Corso breed finally got recognition from the American Kennel Club in 2010. Cane Corso Temperament and Personality

A gentlemen by the name of Professor Giovanni Bonnatti was the first to recognize the Corso and call for its recovery, he believes Corso comes from Italian Dialect Corsus meaning sturdy and robust The Italian Kennel Club Magazine in 1979 had an article written by L. Genili that shared the name could stem from guard dogs which were called cane da corte (courtyard dogs) The most accepted and interesting theory is from a gentleman named Professor Giuseppes.
