All German Shepherds are born with floppy ears. Their ears can stand up anywhere from eight weeks to eight months of age. Most German Shepherd get pointy ears when they finish teething. However, if a dogs ears dont stand up by nine months, they most likely never will.

On average, German Shepherd ears stand up when they are finished teething or around week 20. But you need to note that some German Shepherds need a longer time, they need seven to eight months time frame before their ears starting to perk up.

Your German Shepherds ears should be standing up by around 20 weeks of age. Sometimes it can be earlier or even later than this. Teething, bloodline, and cartilage health all play a part in how early or late, your puppys ears will stand up.

You can expect their ears to be pointy and straight between 4 to 7 months of age or known as the Juvenile stage. It still varies from dog to dog, though. Some might develop them earlier while the others might do a little later. The changes and outcome depend on the nutrition your dog received right from the very beginning until its earliest days.

A German Shepherds ears stand up when they are around 5 months old, or about 20 weeks of age. This normally happens shortly after they stop teething as the cartilage and muscles that support their ears become stronger. What if my puppy has floppy ears longer than 5 months old?

Many GSD puppy ears dont stand up until months later and thats perfectly normal. 5 to 6 months: Teething is usually complete by the time your pup is around five months old. By this time, your German Shepherds ears may already be standing at attention.

When will my German Shepherd puppys ears stand up? It is common for a German Shepherd puppys ears to remain floppy during the teething phase, as some of the calcium that aids in ear development is being diverted to tooth development. A GSD puppys ears will stand up on their own after the teething phase is completed, usually at around 16-24 weeks of age.

If a German Shepherd`s ears don`t go up until they are 8 or 9 months of age, they`ll probably remain down. This is because this is when the ears of most dogs of this breed take permanent shape. Note: About 75% of the German Shepherd canines have their ears going up in the first 3 to 10 months! When Do German Shepherds Ears Stand Up?
