Small, medium and large sizes available. Different from other items on this list, the BeneBone isnt actually a bone at all, but dogs find it yummy thanks to the bacon flavor. Many owners have mentioned that this bone is incredibly durable and long lasting, saving money on toys and chews in the long run.

What is the safest bone for a dog to chew? The safest bone for your dog is probably an uncooked, non-poultry bone thats too big for your dog to swallow without chewing and that wont splinter into tiny pieces when he or she bites into the bone.

In conclusion, the safest is the raw bones. However, some raw bones are hazardous, and vets recommend not to give them to your puppy.

On one hand, some people will wholeheartedly recommend bones, claiming that uncooked, solid bones (like beef knuckle bones, etc.) can provide hours of safe and natural chewing. They often cite the naturalness of dogs chewing on bones, since wolves and dogs in the wild will eat or chew through bones.

Realistically, it's much safer to give your pup something specifically made for chewing. Klein gives his two Afghan hounds chicken-flavored, non-rawhide chews such as SmartBones Chicken Dog Chews. (He does warn that they can stain upholstery and that some dogs with sensitive stomachs might have issues with flavored products.)

Dont give your dog a bone to chew on if theres another dog visiting. Even dogs that are friendly can be very protective of their bones. Do This When Giving Your Dog a Bone: Offer raw meat bones.

Most raw bones that have not been cooked are edible for dogs. Raw chicken, turkey, lamb, or beef bones are soft enough to chew, eat, and digest. That said, with all bones, there is a risk of...

Some dog chews are specifically created with the purpose of improving your dogs dental health. These are safe for most dogs, but there is little proof that they improve your pets dental health more than other chews. Rawhide dog chews. Rawhide bones are thicker and more durable than bully sticks and edible dog bones.

Raw
bones
are considered safer than home-cooked because they don't splinter as easily. Raw
bones
like chicken, turkey, lamb, beef, or even oxtail can be safer
bone
options for your
pet
. Unlike home-cooked
bones
which are drained of their nutrients, raw
bones
can be a natural source of calcium and phosphorus.

Avoid feeding beef, buffalo or bison shank bones. They are often harder than dog's teeth. Larger dogs can get carried away chewing on a large bone and may crack one of their teeth. This is how a two dollar marrow bone can turn into a painful and very expensive adventure.
