One of the main reasons your dog will smell after a walk is because of their body's being covered in hair. Hair holds smell more than skin does so during your walk they're gathering and holding onto a range of scents. The combination of which can be very unpleasant. Dogs have natural odours.

Dogs smell after being outside because of their fur. There's a considerable amount of surface area in a dog's hair, and they absorb everything that's blowing around outdoors. From pollution to nearby wild animals and trash, odors get trapped in your pet's coat.
