The Plott Hound is American through and through. The Plott family has only rarely put these dogs on the market; so while the breed was officially recognized in 1946, it is still rare outside the southern states. They are extremely hardy and have superior hunting instincts. They can make a good family companion but are seldom kept as one.

Some Plott Hounds may be shy around toddlers and each dog needs to be carefully evaluated around toddlers to determine if the combination is safe for the child as well as the dog. Grooming a Plott Hound is very simple. A medium to soft bristle brush is all that is required and they rarely if ever need bathing.

2. Where Plott Hounds Come From. The Plott Hounds ancestors were developed in Germany and were a favorite of gamekeepers. One breeder, George Plott, and his brother left Germany for the United States in 1750 with 5 of their Bloodhounds.Plott raised a family and continued to breed his dogs in North Carolina.

Some groomers frown on distance education for grooming, and I don't think they do their homework, but rather generalize. This is a dedicated service provider!" Holly Tilstra, Recent JKL Grad, BC, Canada

The Plott is described as bright, kind, confident, and courageous. He's loyal to his family and somewhat wary of strangers although he usually warms up quickly to them. He gets along all right with other dogs, but he's not as friendly toward them as many other hound breeds.

Why do groomers shave basset hound? =I Can a afghan hound eat slim jim? Well, yes, they can but only in small amounts. Can a afghan hound eat slim jim? =I Can a aidi and a plott hound be friends? Plott Hounds generally get along well with other dogs since they are a pack breed and many do best in homes where they are not an only dog.

We hope that this has been an eye-opening post that gives doodle owners a better understanding as to why groomers sometimes need to shave dogs all the way down. We also hope that it has helped some of you realize just how important daily coat maintenance is if you have any kind of doodle.

Having seen how much work it is to shave your dog because of matted hair, it is easy to see why regular grooming is so important. Be sure you take your time and let the clippers do the work. Your pup will appreciate your care and patience and will come out feeling healthier while he waits for his new coat to grow.
