So, why does my Rottweiler bark or howl at night? Possible causes are not getting enough exercise, a problem with its diet, rewarding the behavior, fear, separation anxiety, needing to pee or a problem with its sleeping environment.

Rottweilers may howl because of ancient instincts, because they are lonely or suffering from separation anxiety, out of solidarity because they hear other dogs or people howling, or because they are trying to alert you to something.

Teddy my rottie, just did a howl in his sleep and made my heart drop. When I told him to stop he went back to sleep but I was unsettled. Now my family thinks I’m crazy cause I woke them up at 1 am Central to make sure everything was alright with them.
