This condition is considered idiopathic because the cause is still unknown.

There are many theories about possible causes of head shaking such as seizures, nervous system disorders, or head injuries.

Head tremors have also been suspected as being reason for the condition called white dog shaker syndrome.

  • Low blood sugar can also be the cause of uncontrollable shaking. Just like hypoglycemia can lead to shaking and weakness in the humans, the dogs too suffer from decreased sugar levels. When the dogs have decreased sugar levels, the muscles of the dogs are not able to function to the optimal level.
