In some cases an English bulldog may be able to give birth to a
few puppies naturally, but will usually need to have a Cesarean
section in order to deliver the rest. This is because bulldogs were
bred to have small hindquarters and large heads, thus making
natural whelping quite difficult, if not dangerous. The typical
purebred English Bulldog does require a C-section every-time she
has a litter.
