Raw chicken contains an array of bacteria that can cause our dogs harm, with Salmonella, Campylobacter, and E. coli being the most threatening. Dogs may have more defenses against these organisms than we do, but they can still cause serious GI upset in some furry friends.

One cause of it can be salmonella, so it's possible your dog got sick from your chickens. I have been keeping chickens and dogs for many years without incident. The dogs eat a lot of chicken poop, it's impossible to stop. As far as you having a rash, it's entirely possible for you to be allergic to chickens.

A dog develops a chicken allergy when their immune system becomes overly sensitive to the ingredient. The dog’s body begins to identify chicken as dangerous, and an allergic response is triggered every time your dog consumes it. Once your dog’s sensitivity to chicken develops, the problem can worsen.
